July Impressions

Trusting all had a safe and relaxing holiday as we celebrated (and continue) to celebrate our freedoms!  July has always been a special month as it is the birth month of my Father, several children (Carrie, Jacob and Phil) and several grandchildren (Caleb, Dominic who shares this day with Dad!)–an expensive month with birthday presents and all aside–it is an exciting month as the days are warm,  sunny and filled with birthday cakes!

My Dad is an avid painter in oils and acrylics, many of the paintings in our home growing up were painted by Mom and Dad.  They both instilled a love of art in all nine kids and painting kept us from killing each other.  Though initially not too terribly pleased when I chose to become a tattooist, I had gone to see Fr. Dan at Old St. Anselm’s Abbey to receive permission to tattoo.  Fr. Dan said as Christians, we follow the New Testament and to “go forth and create art!”

Generally Mom and Dad come out for two weeks in July to spend time with the kids/grandkids/great-grandkids and great-great grandkids but when I called to ask them to visit, both are so busy with their prayer community, taking the Eucharist to the home bound and those in nursing homes, they decided to postpone their trip to the East coast until September.  Happy Birthday, Dad!  We love you!DENVER, CO - FEBRUARY 22: Portrait of Deacon Ronald Michieli in Bonfils Hall at the John Paul II Center for the New Evangelization on February 22, 2014, in Denver, Colorado.
